Called, but not chosen
I remember when I took my college entrance exam. I prepared myself for more than a year for that test. I was tense. My nails and cuticles were all bitten because of the fear of having lost my time and money.
The following week, the newspaper brought us the results. The expectation of being among the accepted was inexplicable. My future was written on that short acceptance list.
Time went by and so did my youthful worries. Presently, my future depends on God’s Divine mercy.
But those concerns gave way to other much more profound and staggering worries. This is the list of those who are called, but not chosen. They are the unapproved.
I have felt the pain of the Apostle Paul when he says: “My little children, for whom I labor in birth again until Christ is formed in you…” Galatians 4:19
Unfortunately, the list of God’s chosen is always short, just like the list of the approved.
Their advantage is that they don’t depend on anyone else.
Do you know why?
God has called us, but the right to choose exclusively belongs to us.
Our approval depends on not excluding ourselves. We are the only ones responsible for the choices we make.
By submitting our will to God, we are also approving our entry into the Kingdom of Heaven.
That is the condition given to those who are chosen for Eternal Life.
The Lord Jesus left us no doubt when He said:
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” Matthew 7:21
May everyone who’s called not be excluded from the Lord Jesus’ Greatest Promise!
