What good is it to believe and not trust?

Most people don’t know the difference between believing and trusting.

How many people have been deceived because they believe in the Bible but do not trust in it?

They believe in Jesus but do not trust in Him?

To believe and to trust sound almost the same in today’s language, but in the original New Testament writings, in Greek, the verb to trust means so much more.

Believing is like giving someone a vote of confidence for a while. Trusting is like giving a vote of confidence forever, regardless of the circumstances.

We can say that believing is like dating without commitment, and trusting is like a marriage without divorce.

In biblical terms, trusting involves total dedication to the person you believe in. This means honoring the words of commitment made on the Altar until death.

In the comments left on my blog, I’ve noticed that many people have believed in Jesus but haven’t trusted in Him. They are more concerned about receiving than giving.

Receiving the Holy Spirit, receiving peace, receiving joy, speaking in tongues, receiving a new life, receiving, receiving, and receiving …

The same is true in regards to marriage: there is a stronger desire to be happy than to make the other person happy. This happens because they believe in each other, but they do not trust each other. This is why so many marriages have been a living hell.

The life of many false Christians has also been a living hell.

What is the use of having the faith to conquer the riches of this world but not having the faith to trust (give) your life to the Lord Jesus?

The devil enjoys and revels in the life of those who are dishonest because they use lies, deceit, and hypocrisy.

They want a new life, but they don’t want to give up their old one;

They want to receive first, but they do not want to give first;

They want to reap, but they don’t want to sow.

Impossible!

Until these “Christians” learn to give, sacrifice, and surrender, they will never learn to receive.

If they don’t have faith to trust and obey through the sacrifice of their lives, how will they have faith to receive Salvation?

The Lord Jesus was very clear:

If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. John 7.37-38

Spiritual thirst is characterized by emptiness in the soul. To be quenched, you have to go to Jesus and surrender to Him 100%.

When this condition is met, the person immediately receives the baptism with the Holy Spirit.

Believing in Jesus requires total surrender of life.

If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. Luke 9.23

This doesn’t mean that you’re going to turn away from your obligations and live in the church. Instead, it means that the will of the Lord Jesus is a priority in your life. Before your family, your loved ones, your own life, your reputation, your name, etc. He has to be the center of your attention.

What kind of relationship have you had with Him?

Have you believed or trusted in Him?

There’s no point in trying to deceive Him because He knows your innermost being.

He knows if you just want to date, flirt, or be His lover. But He also knows those who want a commitment for all of eternity.
