Attached to the Altar

Who or what are you "attached" to?

Bishop, I was meditating on what you have been talking so much about these days… about how emotional faith blinds a person to the point where they reject being “attached to God” in order to become attached to things, people and even a pastor.

It was for this reason that Paul wrote two letters to the church in Corinth. People there were not evolving spiritually and they forced the apostle to “give them milk” when he wanted – and was able to – give them “solid food”, which means, to transmit new and greater things from the spiritual world.

One of the great motives for sending the first letter was precisely the conflict among the Corinthians to defend their “attachment” to Paul, to Apollos etc. In the passage below, this is made very clear:

“I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men? For when one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are you not carnal Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one? I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.” 1 Corinthians 3:2-6
