All things work together for those who are of God
Since the movement began, I have been trying to understand the root of the apparent chaos that has engulfed Brazil. I found it all to be very suspicious. For no apparent reason everyone decided to invade the streets, protesting against everyone and everything? I was really trying to understand, without letting myself get influenced by what others were saying. Yesterday, as I was seeing the images of the protests happening throughout the country, I came across the word “disobedient” spray-painted on the city hall building in Sao Paulo.
Last year, during the electoral campaign for the mayor of Sao Paulo, the Universal Church suffered a violent persecution, where lots of slander and gossip was spread about the Church. This was a calculated and orchestrated persecution from those who do not necessarily want to harm us, but were trying to achieve a political victory at all costs. Though, it does not matter if they are our enemies or not, the fact is, every one who rises up against those who are of God, are rising up against God Himself. Sooner or later, they reap the result.
In 2010, I participated in the presidential campaign in favor of Dilma. I do not regret it, because I was not fighting for a party, but for my ideals: we put an end to the lies, injustice and media manipulation. However, in the 2012 elections, I opted for Russomano. When Haddad threatened to go to third place, the campaign lost its tone.
They began distorting Russomano’s proposal about bus passes, saying that he would end the Single Ticket plan. In addition, they used the fact that he is PRB to link him to the Church, saying that he was Bishop Macedo’s puppet and that the Church would rule Sao Paulo. They worked with the fear and prejudice of the unwary, campaigning unfairly, dirty and more desperate than the 2010 campaign. They sold their soul to the devil.
On their blogs and social networks, they called the bishops thieves, called us ignorant zombies, they said we were unable to think, that the Universal Church wanted to dominate the world and suggested that any curse sent against Bishop or the Church (and when I say “The Universal Church”, I’m including each one of us members, because the Church is a living organism) would be accepted, because everything was well worth a try in order to win.
They won. The city that they had been wanting for such a long time was now in their hands. What they didn’t know was the price they had to pay.
The promise God made to Abraham, He also made to Bishop Macedo and to each one of us when we are born of God:
“I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you.” Genesis 12.3. (Those who have supported us so far, have been blessed; but what happened to those who have attacked us?)
When they cursed us, they cursed themselves. As always, God turned their curse into our blessing, and now they are reaping what they sowed. Because it can’t be a coincidence that the reason for the manifestations is the same that the PRB campaigned for last year, using the name of the Church to badmouth Russomano’s candidacy.
In early Christianity, the Pharisees persecuted the apostles and managed to arrest them. Gamaliel, a much respected teacher of the law, shared some words of wisdom that should be heard by all those who persecute us:
“And now I say to you, keep away from these men and let them alone; for if this plan or this work is of men, it will come to nothing; but if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it – lest you be found to fight against God.” Acts 5.38-39
We can clearly see this happen throughout the Bible – from the beginning until the end. Those who fight against the servants of God, fight against God Himself.
Even if they were not aware of it at the time, the same coin they used to sell their campaign is the same coin they are being charged now. I’m completely convinced that this is why the protests began because of the buss pass issue – and in Sao Paulo. Making it very clear to those who have spiritual eyes. The spirits that were oppressing the people are coming out of them, like a stampede. And the people, who are in search for freedom, are out in the streets. Among this multitude, there are the protesters (right or wrong, but well-intentioned), and the manifested, which are the ones that prey, loot and attack… they are the ones who spray painted the facade of the city hall in Sao Paulo with the word that gave rise to the chaos, war, riot, to all that is bad: disobedience.
This is, in my opinion, is the reason for what we have seen recently: when they decided to lie, cheat, distort and slander, they made a choice. They opted to disobey God and be unrighteous. Those who plant disobedience, reap disobedience. Those who plant unrighteousness, reap unrighteousness. I’m not here to laugh at them or say, “Well done, you deserve it”. No. It is with regret that I write these words, because I always hoped that they would make the right choice, so their eyes would be opened.
I’m not here to say that they are our enemies, because they are not. But the truth is: those who plant, reap. It does not matter whether you are poor or rich, your choice of seed will determine the harvest.
It is not our role to preach anarchy, but it is our role to alert those who were put into power to take care of the people that they did not receive merely as a job, but as a great responsibility. And to whom much is given, much will be expected. No matter which political party it is, or in which hemisphere you live in, if there is corruption, there is injustice. If there is injustice against the people who have prayed for their country, they will not go unpunished.
“Woe to those who decree unrighteous decrees, who write misfortune, which they have prescribed to rob the needy of justice, and to take what is right from the poor of My people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless.” Isaiah 10.1-2
The people who are invading the streets today are also part of the fulfillment of that passage. But the Bible also says that all things work together for good to those who love God. However, even if the manifestations seem to, sometimes tend to be chaotic, and we do not know where to go, we can be sure that everything, absolutely everything that is happening will cooperate for our good. I do not know how, but I am sure it will. Our true battles aren’t outside in the street, our battle isn’t against flesh and blood, its spiritual. And for souls. I am sure that everything will work together to grow the Kingdom of God in our country.
