Abraham and the king

riches

Abraham defeated the four kings who had taken Lot, his family, and everything he had captive. Apart from them, there were five other kings, including the king of Sodom. Because of this, the king of Sodom said to him, “Give me the persons, and take the goods for yourself” (Genesis 14:21).

The king of Sodom typifies Satan. He couldn’t care less about the riches of this world, but he uses them to attract people. He wants souls to suffer along with him in the lake of fire and brimstone for eternity.

A person who has spiritual discernment will surely agree that the human soul is the most precious possession on the face of the earth. All the riches we may give in order to win souls for the Kingdom of Heaven are insignificant in God’s sight.

“For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matthew 16:26)

All material possessions, and all humanity, are temporary. Everything ceases. Everything ends. But the soul remains forever. It will spend eternity either with God or with the devil—it will all depend on the choices you make in this world. After death, there’s no mass, candle, or riches that can change the fate of a human soul.
