A world within this world
I woke up and went to read, then something came to my mind, an issue that I would like to go on record about and ask you to be completely sincere when answering.
Let’s think about it a bit and evaluate everything before responding, so that our answer is not rehearsed, adorned or copied, but true.
Lately, I have been meditating about “VISION”. Since the symposium, I haven’t stopped thinking about it. And then I remembered when I first converted, how I came to Church, my worldly ways, the immodest clothes I wore, etc.
I remained that way for a while. Then, on a beautiful Sunday morning, the pastor sought the Holy Spirit and I was baptized. I remember that I was baptized while wearing a pink miniskirt. I left the Church that day feeling radiant.
When I got home, before I changed my clothes, I took a look in the mirror and felt naked, ridiculous. I immediately thought: “My God! How could I have left the house looking like this, so indecent??” It was instantaneous! The spiritual blindfold that covered my eyes fell off, and I could finally see.
Today I understand that it was not I, but the Holy Spirit in me, so pure, so clean, so Holy, that I was able to see through His eyes.
From that day forth, everything that once attracted me ceased to shine, and everything that I had never seen before in my life suddenly became part of my daily routine.
Until today this reflects in the choice of friendships I make. It reflects in the choice of TV shows I watch, in each article that I read, books, etc. And because times have changed and today we make use of technology, when I surf the web, my choices follow the same criteria. In other words, I choose only what attracts me, what strikes my attention, what I consider has light, value, importance and will add to my spiritual life.
So, my desire at this time is to read things that match the person who lives inside me: the Holy Spirit.
Of course we must be balanced in everything. There are moments of relaxation, etc. However, we must self-assess and reflect on what we have been seeing on the virtual pages. What have we given more importance to read, to watch? Maybe, futile things have called more of our attention than things that really add to our lives. There are people who use the Internet to bear fruit for the Kingdom of God, and there are others who use social networks to market their products, tell jokes, or promote a popular fad, such as songs that make no sense and other ridiculous things.
Empty things that are taking up your precious time.
We should use reasoning and in fact understand that we are no longer of this world, but we are a world within this world, until Jesus comes for us.
Therefore, the things that should catch my attention, even while on this earth, are the things that are part of “MY WORLD”.
The question is:
Obs: Before answering, take a look at your Facebook wall and any other social network site you may have. Visit the links you post. What pages have you ‘liked’, who are your friends, what do you usually read, what subjects attract your attention, etc.
And then answer: Which world has attracted your precious attention?
Have a beautiful day!
