A Servant’s Mission

Rescue thosebeing taken off to death, and save those stumbling toward slaughter. If you say, “But we didn’t know about this, won’t He who weighs hearts consider it? Won’t He who protects your life know? Won’t He repay a person according to his work? Proverbs 24.11-12 (HCSB)

We know that God does not give orders to those who are not His servants. He does force anyone to do anything. So, this order is exclusive for those who serve Him, and it is very straightforward: “Rescue, save”.
Three things in these verses caught my attention, and also the fear and care that we should have for our calling to fulfill our mission correctly. As we can see in this passage, it will have great influence on the maintenance of the Salvation of a servant’s soul. So, let’s go!

1. Rescue those being taken off to death…
This is the beginning of our work when it comes to a person. We come to their rescue (deliver, heal, cleanse and solve their problems in this world).

2. …and save those stumbling toward slaughter…
Here, our God reveals His real concern, which is the soul. There is a big difference between delivering someone from a problem and saving their soul. And He wants to save them for all of eternity.

3. If you say, “But we didn’t know about this, won’t He who weighs hearts consider it? Won’t He who protects your life know? Won’t He repay a person according to his work?
This, to me, is the last and strongest of the three points, because it has to do with the care we put into not overlooking the execution and the order in which we do our work. He begins by speaking about our mission and ends by explaining that it will weigh in our Salvation, when He uses the expression: Won’t He who protects your life know?

A servant’s soul is compromised when he neglects and does not obey this command!
