100 Times More!
When the Lord Jesus asked the rich man to sell everything he had, give it to the poor, take up his cross and follow Him, the disciples were amazed.
When He added that it was difficult for the rich to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, they were even more amazed!
And so they asked, “what about us?” They were fleshly. They had not yet been sealed with the Holy Spirit, and probably, after seeing so many miracles, like the multiplication of the bread, they expected a big reward.
And so the Lord Jesus said that they would receive 100 times more of all they had given up, and afterwards, receive eternal life.
This must have relieved the tension they felt, and yet, later on, when they were converted, they truly understood what the meaning of “100 times more” meant for servants.
Immediately afterwards Jesus announced that He was going to Jerusalem and that He would suffer many things, be killed and be raised from the dead.
One more time, those natural men had a problem to solve. Their earthly problem had been resolved with the “100 times more”, but now, before their Lord was taken away, they wanted to know what positions they would occupy in heaven.
People that have not yet been born of the Spirit are never satisfied. Simply being allowed into heaven should have been a source immense joy!
When those who’ve been born of the Spirit look at what they’ve left behind and what they’re presently going through, together with all the difficulties, and they see what was written being fulfilled.
As a pastor I‘ve lived in 30 different places. Wherever the church sends a pastor, there’s a house in that place where he can stay. And so, he has more than 100 houses. There will be “mothers” in that church to care for him, children of faith to be raised, and brothers to stand by his side. Until today “100 TIMES MORE” continues to be fulfilled in the lives of God’s servants.
I don’t have anything… just 100 times more of everything I ever gave up!
Meditate on Mark 10:17-45.
