Example of faith in Rwanda
Rwanda is a small African country situated in the Great Lakes region of east-central Africa. The country became a household word during the genocide that occurred in 1994, when approximately 800,000 people were massacred.
Since then, Rwanda has been gradually recovering, with an emphasis on social stability, but the marks and memories of the massacre are still alive in the families affected by it.
Though growing, Rwanda remains a country of limited resources whose main economic activity is subsistence farming. Estimates indicate that 90% of its labor force works in farming.
The Universal Church of the Kingdom of God opened in the country in November of 2009. At first, it was criticized for being different from other churches, but persisted in keeping its doors open. At the present time they have three daily meetings with four assistants and ten evangelists.
The small church has 70 faithful members who have had an encounter with the Living God and whose lives have been transformed. Its message of faith has had such an impact on these peoples’ lives, that in spite of the many difficulties, in a country where the offering of the church is barely able to sustain itself, the members are eager to contribute to the building of Solomon’s Temple.
As part of the worldwide rallying of UCKG members to raise funds for the Temple last August, Rwandan members donated a total of $305—a very small amount to human eyes, but of great value to God.
Their willingness to help in building the greatest symbol of faith in the God of Israel, reminds us of the day that the Lord Jesus was watching people give their offerings at the Temple and saw a widow give her two last coins. He did not stop her, but praised her to His disciples, pointing out her attitude as an example to be followed.
“So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.” Mark 12.43,44
The UCKG continues to raise funds for the Temple of Solomon, which is close to 40% complete. You can also contribute to this project by clicking on this link.
