YOU DID THIS, NOW IT'S MY FAULT?
Recognising one's own mistakes is the first step to restoring life with God.
There is a very direct question in the Bible about the problem that many people face today, recorded in the Book of Jeremiah 2:17:
“Have you not brought this on yourself, in that you have forsaken the Lord your God?”
At the time of the prophet, the people of Israel were living in a state of moral, spiritual, and even financial ruin. Then God presented the diagnosis: they themselves had caused that situation by moving away from Him.
This question is still current.
The tendency to blame others
When something goes wrong, it is common to point out culprits. Some blame God. Others blame people or circumstances.
However, there is a wisdom that few practice: to evaluate whether we ourselves contribute to the problem we are facing.
This requires humility, but it also brings lessons.
Don’t waste your mistakes
The best thing is not to make mistakes. However, when the mistake happens, you have to stop and reflect:
- Where did I go wrong?
- What choices of mine contributed to this situation?
This applies to any area of life, including marriage, finances, family, or faith.
Recognising one’s own responsibility is not condemning oneself, but learning from the mistake so as not to repeat it.
Correct the root of the problem
After acknowledging the mistake, comes the essential question: What can I do now to correct this situation?
Sometimes it is necessary to restore a relationship, reorganise financial life or rebuild lost trust.
But often the root of the problem is deeper: the person has moved away from God.
Before making mistakes with people, they made mistakes with God.
There’s still time to come back
God does not point out the mistake to condemn, but to awaken.
If you realise that your choices have led you to the current situation, know that there is still time to change.
Instead of just asking for blessings, start with a prayer of recognition:
“My God, I made a mistake. It’s my fault. Have mercy on me.”
From this humble attitude, true change can begin.
Before blaming someone – even God – stop and see where you went wrong. 🤔
Watch until the end and find out why assuming your own mistake can be the first step to changing your life.
