Yesterday finished at midnight
Everyone has a past. There are things that we did, things that others did to us and things that happened. There are things that we’re proud to tell and others not so much. We don’t choose the family that we’re born into, our skin color, date of birth, country of origin, or gender. Those are practically all the things that we can’t choose for ourselves.
The rest is in our hands.
Although we cannot do much about our past, our future is still to be decided. That’s why there’s no point to look back feeling sorry or remorseful. Crying about our sorrows, traumas, losses and past misfortunes won’t change our future.
The good thing is that yesterday finished when the clock struck twelve. Today is a new day. This means that you can take a new path today. The unfaithful can become faithful. The thief can start an honest life. The sick can gather strength and decide their not going to die before their time. A prostitute can become a woman of God. You can change practically anything that you want in life.
It simply depends on your decision.
You don’t have to see the map, from the beginning to the end, to start your journey. Take the first step. Then another. If you fall, start again. But always look ahead. And leave the weight of the past on the ground. Don’t carry it any longer because yesterday really finished at midnight.
Fact.
Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. Lamentations 3: 22-23
