WHY IS THERE SO MUCH EVIL IN THE WORLD?

Evil is present in human beings, but there is a way for you not to get carried away by it.

You’ve probably wondered: why is there so much evil in the world? Why do many people do what is evil, sometimes even with people from their own family? Is the human being born evil by any chance? Let’s understand what the Word of God tells us about it. And for that, we need to go back to the beginning.

When God created man, there was no evil, but God gave man the power of choice. Why did God give this power? Many ask themselves: “If God already knew that man would eat from the tree, why did He put it in the middle of the Garden?” The alternative is not an option: God creates man and designs them only to love Him, and He would live in the illusion that man loves Him. God wouldn’t do that. It would be a robotic existence of a pre-programmed love. By the way, what is love if not a choice? Why do I intend to end my days next to Cristiane? Because I chose her. Those who love don’t care what others think. People confuse love with passion, which passes. The feeling can exist now, and that same passion can kill (as in a crime of passion). So, love is not a feeling; it’s a choice. It includes feeling, but above all, it’s a choice. You choose the good every time.

Then, God created man with the power of choice so that he would love him. All man had to do was not touch the tree. But the proposal came when Satan, the one who envied the human being the most. Because he lost his position in Heaven, he saw that God created the human being with such a special affection that he did not accept the Father’s love for the human being. So, since he cannot destroy God, he seeks to destroy His creature. Evil entered the world when Satan, using the serpent, spoke to the woman.

The serpent said, “For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil” (Genesis 3:5). “Knowing good and evil,” the serpent spoke the truth at this point. They were warned.

No one is born evil, but evil is within us. Have you never felt like doing justice with your own hands? Who has never lied? Who has never had an adulterous thought? Who never thought about taking advantage of others? All this is inside of us. Jesus revealed that what contaminates man is not what comes from outside but what they produce. It’s up to us to master this evil.

But there is a warning: “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12).

There is a spiritual war behind everything that meets the eye. There is always a spirit around us whispering evil inspirations. Sometimes, you don’t know where these suggestions came from. Sometimes, it’s in the mouth of a family member, friend, or stranger from the internet.

But these spirits can’t choose for us. You’re the one who chooses. Now you understand why there is so much evil in the world.
