It’s a fact that every human being follows someone. No human being exists in total ignorance of the principles practised by others. We came into the world as a blank sheet, and this sheet is being filled little by little by our parents, family, the environment in which we grew up, friends, teachers and everything we consume as information. There is no personal opinion. There is an opinion formed by someone. You will hardly find someone with an opinion formed by themselves. It is a set of voices that spoke in our minds, and we decided to adopt it as our own.

So, the Holy Scriptures compare us to sheep, dependent animals. The sheep depend on the shepherd. That’s why the Lord Jesus compares Himself to a shepherd. The human being also depends on someone to show them the way.

Within this fact, the question you should ask is: can this be changed? I don’t see how you can live without being influenced by the voices around you. I believe this is within the Divine architecture. God architected us in this way so that we could look for a “north”. So, the next question is: since I’m going to follow someone, who should it be? We choose who we will allow to influence us. So, which voice is more reliable than God’s? What advice should be follow? Which person is more worthy of our trust than God Himself?

The only problem is that not everyone seeks this intelligence. Some people start to imitate celebrities, for example. People follow the trends of this world without questioning, without trying to know what is behind it, and they listen to these voices.

I learned that the biggest insult against God is when we don’t use our intelligence. And many people do this every day, despising His advice. And God even gave us the Holy Spirit. In addition to the brain, He made His own Spirit available to guide us. The Holy Spirit wants to fulfil this role of guiding your compass to the right path. But know that God will never impose Himself on anyone. He wants to meet all your needs, but you should see yourself as a sheep and depend on Him.
