WHO YOU LISTEN TO INFLUENCES YOU

Just as what we see is directly linked to how we act, what we hear also influences us.

We have already taught here that where you look at is where you are going. There is an unbreakable connection between vision and action. Before you act, you see. It’s like that in all areas of life. Everything you do, first you visualise, even if it’s only in your imagination.

How the mind projects a destination before action

Think of simple examples. If you’re on your way to work now, it’s because, when you woke up, you thought: “Today is a day to work.” Then you visualised yourself at your job, imagined the destination for that morning, and began to act: you got up at the right time, put on the appropriate clothes, took the appropriate transport, and went there. You arrived – or are coming – because you saw it before in your mind.

Similarly, when you feel thirsty, your body asks for water, and your brain asks, “Where is water?” If you are at home, view the fridge, get up and go to it. First you see, then you go. Where you look at, that’s where you go. This law is programmed inside us, and no one can avoid it. Therefore, you need to watch what you put in front of your eyes, something even more urgent these days, when we spend hours with our eyes glued to screens and exposed to any kind of content.

When the wrong vision leads to a fall

We who deal with people see this clearly. For example, those who get addicted to pornography inevitably fall into sexual sins. The person watches, imagines, stimulates desires and begins to reproduce that in behaviour: masturbation, harassment, creating fake profiles, attempts at illegitimate conquest. Married men try to replicate what they saw on the screen with their wives; if she doesn’t accept, they look for prostitutes. This applies to men, women and anyone. Where you look at, that’s where you go.

A person puts something in front of their eyes, desires it, and then directs their mind, body, and strength to achieve what they visualised. It is no coincidence that God placed our eyes in front of our faces, aligned with our feet, which also walk forward. He left a message: go ahead. Look where you want to go. The human vision points to the future.

The final destination: heaven

And what is the greatest destination for the human being? Heaven. I want to reach heaven. I want to meet God and hear the words: “Good and faithful servant (…) enter the joy of your Lord” (Matthew 25:21). For this, I try to look at heaven every day. I put before my mind the encounter with my Lord. When I maintain this vision, all my strength aligns to live so that it leads me to that day.

The inevitable influence of voices

But today I want to add another truth as strong as the first: who you hear influences you. Just as vision directs, hearing shapes. If you listen to advice, opinions and conversations, you become influenced. I find it interesting when someone says, “I watch this, read that, listen to so-and-so, but I don’t let myself be influenced.” This reveals illusion and ignorance of oneself. If human beings were not influenced, neither God nor the devil would work through the Word.

The word you hear influences your mind. Don’t doubt it.

A simple example: when I was a child, although born in São Paulo, I visited relatives in Rio de Janeiro. In a few days, I was already speaking a little bit of the “carioca” accent. The same thing happened when I lived in England and the United States: my speech adapted naturally. We are all influenced; this is normal. We get an accent, expressions and vocabulary. Influence exists for good and for evil.

The essential question: who are you listening to?

So the question is: who are you listening to? You need to watch what comes into your ears… Who you hear leads you. If the influence is good, great. But many mix truth with poison; 99% seems right, but 1% contaminates everything. In this case, I prefer to say: “No, thank you.” I silence this voice before it enters my mind and influences my choices…

Finally, knowing this, pay attention to what you have seen and heard, because this can change the course of your life. Watch the message in the video and share it to help more people.
