What principles and values do you live by?
Everyone lives by certain principles and values. Whether good, bad, strange, repulsive – these values and principles are present and everyone lives by the ones they choose for themselves.
Essentially, principles and values are beliefs which guide our decisions as well as influence how we view the world. From the time we’re born, these beliefs mold us and define who we are and what we do. Some people live by the principles and values of the religion they were taught since birth. Others choose someone as their example and follow that person’s philosophy: Gandhi, Mandela, Steve Jobs, Hitler, Marx, Mother Theresa, Bono, Bin Laden. Everyone chooses some kind of combination of principles and values, or perhaps a salad of values they absorbed throughout life.
There’s no such thing as a person without principles. When someone says, “That guy has no principles” – in truth, they’re saying that the person has bad principles. Thieves, drug dealers, rapists, all have their principles, which they use to justify what they do.
In conclusion, no one lives without principles and values, the question is, what principles and values do you live by? Another important point: is it possible to leave old principles and acquire new ones?
Answering that question: yes, it’s possible. You’ve probably changed some principles along your lifetime, whether for better or for worst. Normally, when we change our principles and values, that moment becomes a life changing moment – that’s how much power of influence they have over us.
That’s why the first question is crucial: By what principles and values do you choose to live by?
Spiritual intelligence teaches me that principles and values dictate my life, and I want to have the best quality of life there is, so I should adopt the best principles and values that there are.
But where to find them? Who has them? How do you know if they really are the best?
Results will distinguish the good from the bad. The principles and values that have changed lives the most are, without a doubt, the principles of God.
Who is the originator of these principles? The Lord Jesus Christ was the person who lived and taught them. And He didn’t give any bad examples, as those among the “great leaders” who taught many good things, but they also did bad things.
Where can you find His principles? In the words of His message, in the Gospels and in Biblical Scripture.
And that’s why I believe in Him, I mold my life to His Words, and I meditate on them every day.
It’s not luck. It’s what you choose. It’s also in your reach.
