What love ISN’T

Unfortunately, the word “love” has lost its real meaning in most people’s minds and lips. It has taken on a completely different sense due to overuse — or misuse. But before explaining what love really is, let’s look at what it ISN’T.

Love isn’t:

  • Just a feeling
  • A crush
  • Sex
  • French kissing
  • Poetry
  • Flowers and chocolate
  • Rhyming lyrics in a song
  • Sleeping with someone
  • Selfish interests
  • Going out together and having fun
  • Daydreaming
  • Jealousy
  • A warm, fuzzy feeling
  • Something temporary
  • A romantic flick
  • Being possessive of someone else
  • Hurting the person you “love”
  • Shacking up
  • Talking on the phone for 2 hours
  • You as the center of the universe in the relationship
  • The hots

True love, which I’ll write about in the next post, may include a few of the above things, such as going out together and good feelings, but it’s not limited to those. The error is in mistaking one for the other.

One of the greatest reasons couples and singles suffer so much is because they mix up the stuff above with true love.

True love is the greatest producer of happiness you’ll ever find.

But beware of cheap imitations.
