“As for man, his days are like grass; as a flower of the field, so he flourishes. For the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness to children’s children” (Psalm 103:15-17).

This is a truth that many people do not pay attention to or do not like to go through it. It is the truth of the shortness of life, of how fleeting our life is. And the comparison is appropriate because the flower goes through this process. It is born, grows, dies, and then no one knows that one day it was there. This is precisely how the life of the human being is. Where you live was inhabited by other people in ancient times. They died, and you don’t even know who they are. What remains of the past of the most famous people is a sign on the wall, a street name, etc. Many streets are more prominent than the person who lent the name. But concerning those who fear God (it is not upon everyone), there is the mercy of the Lord forever.

When a man lives a lot, he lives 80, 90 or 100 years. What are 100 years compared to eternity? If you think of thousands of years put in a line, your life would be a very tiny dot on that line. If you think about your problems, your thoughts, exactly a year ago, maybe you don’t even remember. That’s life. Everything passes, everything comes, and everything goes. Things are quickly replaced. People go through our lives and move around, and die. Perhaps, you ask yourself: “So, life has no meaning?” It’s not that; on the contrary, life has a significant meaning.

Some people have yet to find the meaning of life. Precisely because they focus on this dot of the line and not on the whole line, people focus all their time on money and relationships. They put extreme importance on these. It’s never enough for humans because they focus on the here and now. You have to open your vision to have a purpose in your life. You have to understand that we are not this body. According to the Word of God, our soul is eternal. It makes no sense for God’s mercy to be everlasting if we only need it in the limited time we are here. The mercy of God is everlasting because those who fear Him will be with Him for all eternity.

So live on this Earth as if you were already in the Kingdom of Heaven. Try to live your life in obedience to the Word of God. Thus, you will demonstrate that it is with Him that you want to live in eternity. Think about it. Your life is like a flower: the wind passes, and no one remembers its place.
