Was she lucky?

Imagem de capa - Was she lucky?

But before I had finished speaking in my heart, there was Rebekah, coming out with her pitcher on her shoulder; and she went down to the well and drew water. And I said to her, ‘Please let me drink.’ And she made haste and let her pitcher down from her shoulder, and said, ‘Drink, and I will give your camels a drink also.’ So I drank, and she gave the camels a drink also. Genesis 24.45,46

After asking God in prayer for help to find a suitable woman to be Isaac’s wife, Abraham’s servant used a request as a test to find out who would be the chosen one.

Rebekah did not only do what the servant requested, but she went further and gave him more than what he asked for. He asked for water for himself only. One glass, maybe two, would do. However, she drew enough water to give a drink to the camels that belonged to that stranger (one camel may drink up to 200 litters of water).

An excellent and generous spirit, commonly found in successful people, is sometimes mistaken for “luck”. One would say Rebekah was “lucky”, but in fact, it was her generosity and her spirit of excellence that made her the chose one.

Are you stingy and careless or generous and excellent as an individual and in everything that you do?

Generosity is the portrait of the soul. The individual whose soul is poor, covets. Yet, the one whose soul is generous, gives. Generosity is the beauty of the soul. When you are generous, you become extremely attractive.
