THINK ABOUT THIS DAY AND NIGHT (Psalm 1)

Every thought arises from words that occupy our minds. Therefore, it is essential to keep God's thoughts present in them, day and night.

The first Psalm brings impressive spiritual wealth. It presents three triples that reveal how the human being chooses the course of their own life:

• Counsel, path, and seat
• Ungodly, sinners, and scornful
• Walk, stand, and sit

These three triples show a progression—or a fall. First, the person hears the wrong advice, then walks the wrong path, and finally sits among those who mock the faith. But the following verse brings the secret of true happiness:

“But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night.” (Psalms 1:2)

Takes delight in the Word

The psalmist shows that the truly blessed person does not seek delight in the tendencies of the world, but in the Word of God. Meditating on it day and night does not mean isolating yourself in a monastery, far from reality. It means living with the mind turned to God, seeking in Him the direction for every decision, every attitude, and every thought.

When I put God first in my mind, He becomes my reference point. Everything I think, plan, and accomplish first goes through His Word. That’s how I live my life—and I can guarantee you: it changes everything.

Everyone meditates on something

Many people think that meditating on the Word is difficult, but it is not. We all meditate on some word all the time. Thoughts are made of words—those we hear, read, or keep in memory. If they are not the Words of God, they will be someone’s: a friend, a news article, a memory, a concern.

Therefore, the question is not “to meditate or not to meditate,” but on which word you choose to meditate.

Since you will think all the time, why not think about what comes from the Creator Himself?

Know the mind of God

Albert Einstein, one of the greatest scientists in history, once said that what he would most like to know was “the mind of God.” This is the smartest search anyone can have—to understand what God thinks.

The prophet Isaiah recorded what the Lord Himself said: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways.”

God thinks higher, wiser, and fairer. So, when you seek His advice, you are going straight to the source of all wisdom and all science.

Start the day with God

I learned to start every day like this: talking to God. Before looking at my mobile phone, before seeing the news or answering messages, I open the Bible and say: “Lord, talk to me today.” This simple practice has sustained me. It is my strength, my refuge, my compass.

You can do the same. The Word is available to everyone—whether in a physical book or on a mobile phone. Start the day by thanking, asking for direction, and opening your heart to hear what God wants to say.

The Word that doesn’t return void

God promised: “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”

The Word of God always fulfills its purpose—but it needs an open heart. Those who meditate on it day and night become like a tree planted by the waters, firm, fruitful, and happy. This is the promise for those who choose the right path—the path of faith and obedience.
