The 'who am I' complex

Perhaps you don’t have this complex. Perhaps you’re among the minority who never had it, or you learned to overcome it. The rest of mankind, however, still have not figured out how many opportunities they lost or the plans that fell through because of this issue. It’s the ‘who am I’ complex.

Who am I for him to pay attention to me?
Who am I to ask for this?
Who am I to give my opinion?
Who am I to bother?
Who am I here among all these important people?
Who am I before my condemning past?
Who am I to buy this?
Who am I to wear these clothes?
Who am I to get a salary like hers?
Who am I to speak of something interesting?
Who am I to teach someone?
Who am I in this company that I just started working for?
Who am I… Who am I… Who am I?

The automatic and unchanging answer in your mind has been: “You’re nothing. You’re nobody. You don’t deserve that. Just look at yourself. It’s better if you just keep quiet.”

Change this starting today. Every time this voice makes you question your merits, answer back using the words that God himself said in regards to you:

“Since you were precious in My sight, You have been honored, And I have loved you; Therefore I will give men for you, And people for your life. Fear not, for I am with you…” Isaiah 43: 4,5

Who are you? Someone precious in God’s eyes, loved by Him, worthy of honor, chosen, someone who’s life is worth the lives of many, including His very Son’s. You’re just someone who has no reason to be afraid because you have God by your side all the time. According to Him, that’s who you are.

Don’t let anybody tell you differently.
