THE TREE THAT NEVER STOPS YIELDING FRUIT (Psalm 1)

Discover how to become that tree that prospers, bears fruit, and remains firm, regardless of what happens around you.

True faith is not passive. It transforms the way those who practice it live. And Psalm 1 shows us exactly that – how to live productively, fruitfully and stably, even in the midst of life’s droughts.

The psalmist speaks of two paths: that of the righteous and that of the wicked. One leads to life; the other, to destruction. But first of all, he teaches us how to be a person who bears good fruit.

The difference between the righteous and the wicked

The righteous, in the Bible, is not just someone “good”. They are the ones who obey God, who trust in Him and live according to His Word. The wicked, on the other hand, is the one who lives alien to God, guided only by their own will.

You may think: “But I see righteous people suffering and wicked people prospering.”

It’s true—in human eyes, it sometimes seems unfair. But remember: death is not the end for the righteous. When God takes someone back, it is because He considers them worthy to be with Him. The righteous live forever, even when they leave this world early.

The tree planted by the waters

Verse 3 of Psalm 1 compares the righteous to a tree planted by the streams of water. This image also appears in Jeremiah 17:7-8, which says:

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord.”

The prophet explains that those who trust in God are like a tree whose roots reach down to the stream. Even when the heat comes, its leaves remain green. Even in the drought, it continues to bear fruit. This tree represents those who maintain their trust in the Lord and nourish their souls with His Word.

The waters that clean and strengthen

These waters symbolise the Word of God. They wash the mind, purify thoughts and strengthen the heart.

If you want to free yourself from anxiety, sadness or bad thoughts, immerse yourself in the Word. Decrease consumption of this world’s content—news, music and empty distractions—and increase time with the Bible.

The Word is like living water: the more you drink from it, the cleaner and stronger you become inside.

Roots that seek water

The tree extends its roots in search of water. So should the Christian also be: seek the presence of God with effort and constancy.

Don’t wait for everything to be ready. Today, many want quick answers, even from artificial intelligence. But infinitely greater is the spiritual intelligence, which comes from God.

Seek the Word. Extend your roots. Strive to hear God’s voice every day. Because when the heat of the struggles comes, you won’t be afraid – your roots will be firm in the source.

Even in the desert, you can bear fruit

Life has seasons: winter, summer, autumn and spring. We all face difficult times, but those who are rooted in God do not despair. The righteous continue to bear fruit even in the midst of drought. While many are discouraged, they remain firm, confident and productive – because their livelihood comes from above.

Final invitation

Decrease the volume of this world’s voices and increase the volume of God’s voice. Meditate on the Word, trust it and practice it. Do this, and you will also be like this tree planted by the waters—strong, constant and fruitful in all seasons.

Watch until the end and strengthen your roots with the Word of God.
