THE TEMPTATION OF JESUS | PART 2: THE WORD

This is the only way to overcome life's temptations and remain firm in faith: the "It's Written" is the key to victory!

The Holy Spirit led Jesus to the desert to be tempted by the devil, leaving us an example of how to overcome temptation. In the 40 days He spent there, He conquered Himself, His hunger, and His appetites only with the Word.

Jesus didn’t need to take the Bible because the Word was in His mind and was in front of Him at all times, so He defeated the devil.

So, Jesus left us the perfect example of how to overcome the temptations that come to us. How many times have we been tempted? How will you resist the temptation to make money illegally? How will you resist the temptation to leave God’s Presence? There is only one way: with the “it is written.”

The challenges are ahead of you. Jesus knew that He was going to start His ministry. He had not preached until the baptism in the Jordan; He had not healed anyone and had not done anything yet. He knew He would be persecuted, that three years later, He would be on the cross; He knew all this. How would He face the betrayal of one of His close friends, Judas? How would He endure the religious persecution He suffered? How do we endure all this? Only with the Word.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.” Psalms 119:105

It illuminates where we step and where we walk, and the Word of God brings us peace. As Psalm 119:165 says, “Great peace have those who love Your law, And nothing causes them to stumble.”

In a world of wars, those who love God’s law have great peace, and nothing makes them stumble. If you put and love this Word above all, it will keep you and give you great peace; you will not stumble on anything that comes before you.
