THE GOLDEN RULE OF JESUS FOR LIVING WELL

What is your intention for doing good for your neighbour? This has been a serious mistake of many people with a good attitude outside but bitter intentions. "But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil." Luke 6:35

The Lord Jesus taught the golden rule, which is: “And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise” (Luke 6:31).

In other words, what I want others to do for me, I must do for them. First, I do it before asking others to do it for me. This is the golden rule of living good . But in practice, most people invert this rule: charge others without doing it first. Or, perhaps, they have already given the best to others, but, as they did not receive the best, they gave up, got tired of doing good and then began to pay for evil with evil.

“But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive back, what credit is that to you? For even sinners lend to sinners to receive as much back. But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful” (Luke 6:32-36).

In other words, how difficult is it to treat those who treat us well? It’s not very hard. That’s what He’s talking about. You’re not earning any credit for it.

It is important to remember this because we usually make a serious mistake: we do something good, hoping to receive something in return. You may have noticed that it has become a trend on the internet of people who will do charity and film it to show how charitable they were.

This work has no reward before God. In front of men, it can even have some effect. Whoever wants to win applause, in fact, is doing good only for those who are benefiting. But the person is doing wrong for them because they seek recognition.

You know that the corrupt politician can do good, the hypocrite can do good, and even the devil can do good (through religion). Many do good with hidden and evil intentions; however, they will not get back the good they are doing.

We have to do good regardless of whether others deserve it or not. We have to do good because we are children of the Good.

You shouldn’t give up doing good. You shouldn’t pay with evil. You do it because it’s good. If the light of God is in you, learn to do the right regardless of the credit you will receive. Treat people well. It doesn’t matter what they did in the past.

Don’t be that kind of person: “I did you good. Now, you do good for me.” No! But be prepared because what do you think will happen if you are fair and live in an unfair world? However, injustice makes the just stronger. And when the person gives up being fair by suffering injustice, evil wins.

Even if you are wronged in this world, great is your reward in Heaven. Don’t worry! There’s one who’s seeing what’s going on. It seems we lost, but God gave us the advantage on the scoreboard in the end.
