THE 7 DAY CHALLENGE: DOES IT HELP OR HINDER YOU? HERE’S HOW TO DO IT
This 7 day challenge can change your life, mindset, actions and reactions. Start now!
I’m going to give you a rule and a challenge. If you do, it could change your life. It’s something for you to put into practice. A simple experiment, for 7 days. If you are walking in circles in your life, this challenge will help you. Train yourself to apply this rule in your day to day life.
The Lord Jesus said this: “If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you, for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell” (Matthew 5:29- 30).
In the original text, “to sin” means “to stumble.” That is, if something is a stumbling block for you, then it is necessary to abandon it. It is worth adding that the Lord Jesus did not say literally pluck out the eye.
We can call this “the law of least loss”. If you must lose something, let it be of lesser importance, while you save something of greater value. And that applies to all of life. For example, how often does a person become addicted to content (video games, pornography, football) that is bad for them?
Imagine that you are walking down the driveway of your house towards work. And every day, at a certain point along the way, you stumble upon the same place. You hurt yourself, get your hands and clothes dirty. Then you get up, complain and go to work. The next day, the same thing.
Meaning: something is wrong with you. Either you are blind or you like to suffer. What would you do? Would you open your eyes and remove that stumbling block? If you couldn’t remove that, you’d go around (go the other way). It is what the Lord Jesus is teaching. If something leads you to stumble, apply the law of least loss.
What is the challenge I am going to give you? For 7 days, you will apply the following rule to your life: Does this help or hinder me? Am I advancing or regressing because of this? You will question yourself. And if the answer is “this is useful”, then you will keep it in your life. Otherwise, you will remove it.
You have to be radical with the answer and be sincere. You will pluck without pity party. For example: if there’s an outfit in your wardrobe that you don’t wear, you’re going to donate it to someone. Or an app that takes your attention, delete it from your phone. You don’t even know how that person ended up on your social media, remove them! You follow people who only post nonsense, stop following! Maybe, you have to stop using social media altogether. There’s a room full of junk because you think you’ll need it one day, throw it away! Cut what leads you to stumble.
You will do this for a week. That way, you’ll only have time for what will help you. You will walk lighter, more at peace, more focused, your life will take a jump forward. Then you will come back here and tell me how it went.
