When the Lord Jesus turned 30, He went to the Jordan River, and John the Baptist baptised him in the waters as an example to be followed.

And, at 8 days of birth, He was presented, according to the instruction of the Law. However, the baptism in the waters that the Lord Jesus created was never for children but for adults. So much so that he was 30 years old when he was baptised. Because it’s an act of repentance. And the child does not understand water baptism, which is an act of repentance of the person himself.

Baptism cannot be done by the imposition of someone or a religious tradition. It’s a personal decision. If I regret it, I’ll have to recognise my mistakes. I have to abandon this and start walking in the opposite direction. And the decision is made official by water baptism.

Biblically speaking, water baptism should be a dive. Because when the person dives, it symbolises a burial (the burial of the old creature). And when we emerge, it’s as if we are being born as a new creature.

It is as it is written: “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned” (Mark 16:16). “Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so, we also should walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4).

In short: if you want to be sure of your Salvation, first you must be aware of your situation, disobedience to God, and therefore doomed to condemnation. But you can receive Salvation, and then, you start to live in obedience to Him.

Those who take a bath don’t go back to the dirt again. So, you shouldn’t go back to the mistakes of before. Being a Christian in this world is not easy; it’s getting harder and harder. If you don’t overcome yourself, you won’t overcome the world.

Examine yourself: if you have doubts about your water baptism and have not walked in the newness of life, then you must re-evaluate what happened. And if you were baptised as a child, that was a tradition. You need to discard this, and as an adult, with your mind in the right place, you need to evaluate if you recognise your mistakes and sins and if you want to have new life.
