Even back in first grade Science class I learned that human beings are the only rational animals—After all, it’s one of the characteristics that distinguishes us from the other animals. Your intelligence allows you to accomplish things that no other creature can.

Through the Word of God I also learned that intelligence together with faith distinguishes those who are of God from those who are not. Moses explains it in this way:

 Therefore be careful to observe them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear all these statutes, and say, ‘Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.’ Deuteronomy 4:6

Did you perceive God’s desire in regards to the people? The Lord wanted other people to know His people through their intelligence. The nations would see this, when they saw His people obeying His laws faithfully.

Stupidity doesn’t praise God.
Emotional faith doesn’t honor God.
Religiousness doesn’t make unbelievers admire God.
Religious beliefs blind, they don’t exalt God.
Intelligence without faith is lame.
Faith without intelligence is fanaticism.
Faith without obedience is shameful to God.

Sadly, many who have called themselves “people of God” have been dumb, blind and right down religious. They have valued emotions and despised understanding.

Their brain is just going to waste.

Surely I am more stupid than any man, And do not have the understanding of a man. I neither learned wisdom Nor have knowledge of the Holy One. Proverbs 30:2-3
