Sheep complex

Humans have a sheep complex, in other words, they imitate the flock, do what everybody else is doing. This is good sometimes, for example, in respect to what is socially acceptable. Imagine if you were to show up to work naked. That wouldn’t be cool. Wearing clothes in public is a social norm that (almost) everyone follows.

The problem is that sometimes we drag this mentality into other areas of our lives. We look at what others are doing and we follow their example, without even thinking about it.

Now consider: most people are not successful. On the contrary, the successful (the examples we should follow,) the ones who make a difference, are few. So if you want to do what everyone else does, you will probably be imitating the behavior of the defeated, or in a more accurate hypothesis, the mediocre.

If you want to be different make the difference, this means you have to do more, be more, and do it with more ferocity than everybody else. Think bigger thoughts than the flock, be bolder, overcome yourself.

If you do this, the good thing is, it won’t be so hard to stand out.
