One thing that all winners do
In the previous post I pointed out the fact that people lose their wars because they’re not trained to fight them, much less win. I also showed you that God Himself, like a father, trained His children to be soldiers. He trains those of His children who are willing to learn.
The emphasis here is in the training.
Everyone knows that if you want to be really good at something, you need to train for it. Whether it is playing soccer, the piano, speaking in public, cooking, dominating a language, being a good lawyer — any skill needs training. Training isn’t the only thing that makes someone excellent in their area of expertise, but it’s one of the most important. Things such as natural talent, attitude and self-confidence are important to their success. But without a doubt, if you don’t train to develop, the other isolated things won’t be sufficient.
Bruce Lee, the Kung-fu legend, once said something that summarizes the importance of training:
I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.
Where do you want to stand out? What skill will help you reach your objectives and bring you the greatest return to your efforts? Have you trained to develop this skill or are you just coasting with what you already know?
God trains His. Why is that? Isn’t He God? Couldn’t He simply make someone “born” able?
He trains His children because:
- Capacitating is the job of the Father, developing the skill is His children’s job
- He expects the best performance from them
- He knows their potential
- He wants them to stand out from the rest, and in this way call attention to themselves and consequently to their Father.
Don’t stop in time, resting on your laurels. Develop. Grow. Defy your limits. Use all the human resources available to train. And above all, make God your trainer. Remember:
Human Education = Capacity
Human Education + God’s training = Capacity3
When you are not practicing, remember, someone somewhere is practicing…and when you two meet, he will win. — Bill Bradley
