NEGATIVE INHERITANCES THAT IMPOVERISH AND COMPLICATE YOUR LIFE: Can you identify them?
Did you inherit a generational curse?
Do you carry an inheritance of bad habits from your parents? We understand the concept of inheritance from a material point of view. Inheritance is something you don’t choose. That’s what your parents leave you. We can also talk about genetic inheritance. When you go to the doctor, he asks: “Is there anyone in the family who has ever had this problem?” Doctors attend to the history of diseases of previous generations. If you look at a family photo, you will see physical similarities. What about a spiritual or behavioural point of view? Would it be different? Or is there also some emotional or behavioural inheritance we inherit from our parents? The Bible says yes (and science too).
When we see the book of Genesis in the Bible, we know the generation of Abraham. The sequence was: Abram, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph. And this family passed a bad habit down from generation to generation. On one occasion, Abraham went down to Egypt to have food. And Pharaoh seeing that Sarah, Abraham’s wife, had singular beauty, wanted to take her. And the custom was that if Pharaoh wanted to take a man’s wife, her husband would be killed. Thus, Abraham omitted the marriage bringing only part of the information, saying that Sarah was his half-sister (which was true). But he didn’t tell him he was also Sara’s husband
Interestingly, God freed Abraham and Sarah from all that, but Isaac, their son, went through a similar situation with another king called Abimelech. Isaac feared this king would kill him because of Rebekah and lied, as Abraham did.
Later, Isaac was the victim of deception on the part of Rebekah, who helped his son Jacob to obtain the inheritance of the firstborn in place of his brother Esau. So Jacob lied to his father, saying it was Esau. Again, we see the lie in this family. Later, Jacob was deceived by his uncle and father-in-law, Laban. Later, Jacob was deceived by his sons, who also lied to him, saying that Joseph was dead. Jacob did not know that the other children had orchestrated the sale of Joseph as a slave and lied to their father. And this bad habit was only broken with Joseph, a man of God. He had become Egypt’s governor and rehearsed that he would deceive the brothers but revealed himself to them by telling the truth. He could have taken revenge, he could have lied to the family, but there he broke that habit.
So, we are all subject to the same problem of inheriting good things from our parents and bad things. And often, you don’t understand why you do certain things. Think for a moment: “Have I inherited some bad habit, some bad behaviour, some moral, spiritual, emotional negative inheritance from my family that persecutes me to this day?” Watch the video above and check out this message in full.
