MURMURING BRINGS CURSES (and it can be silent)

Complaining about life may seem normal, but it reveals a heart that places itself above the Creator

Murmuring is not something small. The Word of God shows that murmuring not only brings consequences here on Earth, but also exposes the person to divine judgment. When someone murmurs, even if they don’t realise it, they are questioning God’s justice, goodness and authority.

In Jude’s letter – a little-cited book from the New Testament – we find a direct warning. In chapter 1, verse 16, the text describes the murmurers as people who complain about their own luck, follow their own desires, speak with arrogance and admire others out of interest. This description remains current because it reveals the essence of the human being.

When complaining becomes an affront

The murmur is, in practice, a complaint against divine authority. It carries the idea that God has failed, that He doesn’t see, doesn’t care or isn’t fair. Therefore, the Bible states that the murmurers become susceptible to judgment.

In addition, there is an even more dangerous type: silent murmuring. When a person does not find someone to listen to their complaints, they are silent externally but continue to complain internally, feeding thoughts of injustice, victimhood, and comparison.

God hears even what is not said

Many believe that, by saying nothing, they are safe. However, Jesus showed that God knows the thoughts. In Matthew 9, when forgiving a paralytic, He answered the scribes who thought evil in their hearts. That is, the murmur begins in thought, and it already causes spiritual damage.

“My fate is bad” – is it?

Those who murmur usually complain about their own luck, their fate, the life they have led. However, they ignore that much of what they live is a consequence of their own choices. Not everything is under our control, it’s true, but we are fully responsible for how we react to what happens to us.

Everyone faces problems. The difference is in how each one deals with them.

A necessary alert

Comparing yourself to others, envying apparent lives and feeding complaints only produces spiritual wear and tear. No one is free from struggles, even if not all of them appear.

Therefore, the alert is clear:

  • If you’re going to talk, say what edifies.
  • If you think, think about what pleases God.
  • And if bad thoughts arise, seek prayer, worship and the Word.

Don’t turn your life into a court against God. One day, we will all account for the words spoken – and also the thoughts.

In this video, you will understand how to deal with these thoughts and prevent the murmur, even if silent, from bringing bad consequences to your life.
