LEARN TO READ THE BIBLE WITH FAITH AND IMAGINATION
We often read the Bible in a hurry and miss precious riches.
Often, when reading the Scriptures, we let hidden riches pass because of the rush. We don’t use our imagination to immerse ourselves in what the text is saying. However, faith requires vision. It allows us to see with spiritual eyes what physical eyes cannot see.
To see, we need to imagine. The word “imagine” comes from image. That is, we have to visualise and mentally create the scenario that the Word presents. When we meditate like this, we learn profound lessons that are hidden between the lines.
The example of Peter and the fish
In Matthew 17, verse 24, Jesus arrives in Capernaum, and the tax collectors approach Peter. They pressure him, suggesting that Jesus disrespects the law. But Jesus shows another way: to obey wisely.
He gives a clear instruction:
“Go to the sea, cast in a hook, and take fish that comes up first. And when you have opened its mouth, you find a piece of money.”
At first glance, it seems simple, but notice:
1. Someone had to lose the coin.
2. The fish needed to swallow just that coin.
3. The fish needed to be precisely where Peter would throw the hook.
Peter didn’t know any of this. Even so, he acted with obedience, threw the hook and found the coin.
Obedience connects the Word to the miracle
Here’s the lesson: faith without imagination is limited. Peter couldn’t predict every detail, but he used what he knew how to do, trusted the promise and acted. The miracle happened because obedience was connected with the Word.
Have you ever felt lost, not knowing how to act? Maybe you’re forgetting to throw your hook. Your hook is what you know how to do with your skills and opportunities. Cast it with faith, visualise the result and watch God act.
What seems lost can become a seed
The coin fulfilled the Word of God and honoured commitments. This also happens in your life: what you plant with faith and imagination is never lost; it becomes the seed for great fruits.
Throw your hook today
Therefore, never underestimate the power of faith connected to imagination and obedience. Throw your hook, visualise the miracle, trust the promise and go into action. Faith that acts in this way transforms lives, moves mountains and guarantees provision where it seemed impossible.
