KINGS 6th Season. Episode 1: THE TIME BETWEEN THE PROMISE AND THE CONQUEST!

Season 6 of the Kings series premiere came full of teachings, and one is about the time between the promise and the conquest. What action have you been taking?

I want to take some lessons from the 1st episode of the 6th season of “Kings” aired last night on Univer Video and Record TV. The 6th season starts from chapter 2 of II Samuel.

And there, we understand that right after the death of King Saul, what happened to David?
David was anointed king before defeating Goliath when he was a young man. God anointed him but did not establish him as a king immediately. David had to serve Saul for a while. David had a ” honeymoon ” period with Saul (it was when Saul liked David very much). Still, after the great victory against Goliath (and remember that the women even made a song to celebrate the victory), the heart of King Saul began to envy and become insecure about David. “Now he’s going to take my place.”

So Saul began to pursue David. David spent many years fleeing through the caves and deserts of Israel. Finally, after many years, Saul died. He committed suicide in a battle, throwing himself on a sword. David was very saddened by the death of Saul and Jonathan (who was his best friend). But David, then, had to take his place on the throne of Israel. But David would not take it by force. What happened?
At the beginning of chapter 2, it says that David consulted the Lord. Then God instructed him to go up to Hebron, a city of Judah.
There David was anointed as king again, but over the house of Judah, which was one of the 12 tribes of Israel. So David was recognised by only one tribe.

Meanwhile, Saul’s general, Abner, took Ishbosheth, making him king over the other 11 tribes. David stayed in Hebron, reigning, for 7 and a half years.

What is one of the lessons we can learn from this event in David’s life? You see that it is one thing for you to receive a promise from God, and it is another to take possession of it. David had every right to reign over Israel by Divine command, but the people did not accept him as king. See that David’s life, although he is a God-fearing man, had nothing easy. God didn’t ‘clear the way’ for him. David groaned, repented, and persevered, waiting and trusting God’s promise. “If God has put me as king and wants me to be king, then I don’t know how, but He will do it.” This is the true trust of the servants of God.

On the other hand, the false servants of God always want to ‘help’ God. Abner did not seek to consult what God’s will was, and he went by tradition: when a king dies, his son reigns in their place.
Those who want to know the will of God place it as sovereign and are not worried about the world or traditions.

What about you?

What do you do when you have a promise that is not fulfilled?

Do you give up, doubt the promise, and try to do things your way, or do you act like David?

Watch the video above and meditate on it.
