JOSHAPH'S PRAYER (when we don't know what to do)

Check out the message in the video below.

In moments of anguish, pain and when we have no way out, there is only one way: Jehoshaphat’s prayer.

Meditate with me on this prayer, which is recorded in detail in 2 Chronicles, chapter 20, when Jehoshaphat received alarming news, that is, enemy nations, including the sons of Moab and Ammon, were preparing to attack Judah. Even before the battle, the bad news arrived, bringing fear and concern – exactly as evil likes to act: with intimidation, with warnings of death, threats, causing the person to surrender.

Acting with determination

First, Jehoshaphat felt fear; after all, he was human, just like all of us… However, he did not let himself be dominated by this bad news; instead, he sought alliances with other people, declared a fast throughout Judah and gathered the people to cry out to the Lord.

Then, he left his palace, went to the Temple (he did not pray at home, but moved) and presented his concerns before the altar of God. There, Jehoshaphat recognised the majesty of God, confessed his dependence, and God granted him great deliverance.
