IT STARTS IN YOU

You will be the written Bible for your family to read.

“I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you. ” – Genesis 12:3

This promise made to Abraham extends to all who believe as he did. Every time I read this verse, I remember that I don’t need to fight back for the harm they try to do to me. If I serve God, He deals with those who curse me. They are harming themselves by touching someone who belongs to the Lord.

The stronger the ball hits the wall, the stronger it comes back, and so is the promise: “I will curse those who curse you”. That means you don’t have to worry about revenge. Focus only on being God’s – the rest He takes care of.

The blessing begins in you:

But this promise goes further. He also said: “And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed” (Genesis 12:3).

Here is a condition that many ignore: the blessing begins in you. It’s not automatic. It flows through someone, and that someone can be you. As in Psalm 23, where the “I shall not want” depends on the Lord being your shepherd, the blessing to families also depends on us being in God.

Abraham was chosen even before he had children. God spoke of the heirs of faith, not only of the flesh. Paul clarifies in Galatians 3:29: “And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

In other words, it doesn’t matter your origin. If you are in Christ, you are heir to this promise. And it includes your family. So why aren’t many families blessed yet?

There are two reasons for this:

First, because perhaps you are in the sowing phase, as in Psalm 126: you sow with tears, but you will reap with joy.

Second, because maybe it hasn’t happened “in you” yet. How do you expect those in your house to change if you haven’t changed?

You want the salvation of your family, but you haven’t surrendered yet. You bring photos and pray for your loved ones, but the example has not yet been born in you. The promise begins in you.

You go first:

You go first before taking your family to the foot of the cross. Surrender. Abandon sins, doubts, and bad habits. Leave everything at Jesus’ feet. Only then will you have moral and spiritual authority to be light inside the house.

Your transformation speaks louder than your words. You will be the Bible your family will read without opening your mouth.
