International Men's Day

Imagem de capa - International Men's Day

Why don’t we have an International Day (nor national, state, municipal, or even a neighborhood thing between friends…) for men?

Unless you’ve been living in outer space for the past 50 years and just landed on planet earth, you’ll know that we are in the age of women. After thousands of years of being devalued women got fed up, united, and are becoming stronger than ever. There are those who say they are not strong enough. While others say they’re too strong. Man has paid a high price for the oppression they imposed on women for centuries on end.

The problem is when this strengthening of the woman takes on a competitive form or provokes enmity toward men. If the result of women valuing themselves means isolating men, feelings of superiority, or even resentment and revenge, they will have made zero progress. In truth, they will have scored a goal against themselves.

Men and women need to understand: one is not better than the other. We are different in practically everything. We take on different yet complementary roles in each other’s lives. We need each other. That is why the respect should be mutual.

Yes, women should value themselves. The intelligent man values women and this attitude will make him more valuable to them.

No, we don’t have an International Day for Men, for now. But don’t be surprised if sometime in the near future someone starts working on this.

Mean while, intelligent men and women will value each other daily.

Congratulations to them!

[Update: I just discovered that they created such a day. Since 1999, a day for men is commemorated in several countries on November 19th.]
