HOW TO TURN THINGS AROUND QUICKLY?
When you recognise the mistake, regret and decide to act, recovery begins immediately.
The starting point for those who want to change their lives is not chance, nor time – it’s the decision, the choice. That’s why, today I want to talk directly to you who know you’ve made bad decisions, reaped bitter consequences and still want to change your own story – and fast.
With this, over the years, I learnt something simple but powerful: the best way to recover from a wrong choice is to be quick to make a right choice. Change happens in the same proportion that you recognise where you made a mistake and decide to act differently.
The speed of change begins in recognition
Before any external transformation, there is a decisive internal moment: to come to your senses. While the person tries to justify the mistake, minimise the guilt or transfer the responsibility, nothing changes. But when they recognise: “I made a terrible choice”, something powerful happens.
The faster you identify the wrong decisions that led you to the bottom, the quicker you can start to climb. Your life changes at the same speed as your sincere regret.
The example of the prodigal son
The parable of the prodigal son, recorded in Luke 15, shows us two crucial moments: a bad decision that destroyed everything and a good decision that rebuilt life.
At first, this young man chose to leave his father’s house, anticipate the inheritance and “live life”. However, in practice, he showed that he valued money more than the relationship. Over time, he went far, wasted everything and when the money ran out, the companies disappeared too. The result, therefore, was hunger, humiliation and shame.
However, the most important point in the story is not the fall, but the moment when he came to his senses.
“Coming to your senses…”
When he wanted to eat the pigs’ food and was denied, the text says something revealing: “but when he came to himself…” There, he recognised the terrible decision he had made.
Was he irresponsible? Yes. Ungrateful? Also. Inconsequential and wasteful? Without a doubt. But there is something he wasn’t: foolish to the point of not learning. He had enough common sense to admit: “I made a mistake”.
And this is exactly where hope dwells.
Can you identify where you made a mistake?
Now I ask you directly:
Can you look back and identify at least one wrong choice that led you to the situation you’re in today?
- Maybe a relationship you should never have started.
- Maybe principles that you gave up to make more money.
- Perhaps disobedience to parents, distancing from God’s presence, decisions taken on impulse.
If you can recognise this – and really repent – then there is hope for you. This means that you have not lost your mind or your ability to start over.
Repentance is not an excuse; it’s a change
Repentance is not saying: “It wasn’t that good”. But, admit: “I made a mistake. If I could go back, I would do it differently.”
And if you’ve reached this point, I have good news: there’s time. There’s time to change. There’s time to go back.
Now it’s your turn
It doesn’t matter how deep you fell, or the size of the damage you caused. If today you can say, “I was wrong, I was to blame, and I regret it”, then do what the prodigal son did.
- Stop condemning yourself.
- Stop blaming others.
- Stop saying there’s no way anymore.
In this video, you will understand how to turn around quickly through the parable of the prodigal son, which shows that recognising the mistake and acting with humility can completely restore your life.
