HOW TO START BIG CHANGES IN YOUR LIFE (YOU CAN DO IT)
Do you want to do something but don't know how? So here's what you need to understand
Many people know what they want, they just don’t know where to start or how to start. And we hear this question a lot: “How do I start my own business? How can I save money and then invest and buy something? How do I start to change my health? How do I start to change my horrible marriage? How do I stop being an overly sensitive or anxious person? How do I get into the habit of praying every day?” And so people keep procrastinating, leaving it for later, but they don’t do it.
What happens is that these people have the wrong idea of how major life changes begin. They think that big changes start with big actions. And it’s the other way around: big changes sometimes start with small actions. And the Word of God talks about this in Zechariah 4:10. For it is common for people to despise small things. There was a little breakthrough today and you may despise it, but God’s Word says you shouldn’t do that. In Job 8:7, we also find this.
In other words, the secret to change is to start small. First, think about what you want to change in your life. Don’t think you’re going to have to do much. Do you want to start a business? Don’t think: “I have to find a place, a commodity, take a course”. Start now. Even if it’s not the way you want it, start somewhere. You will learn what to do along the way. You will get the skill. You can start with something small.
For example, when your wife or husband fights, don’t fight back. Get off at the bus stop earlier than you need to get off, to walk a little further (and then start your physical activities somewhere). If you want to be a person of prayer, start in the morning, saying “Good morning, Lord.” After a while, this will turn into a conversation. You have to start. Just do one thing and you will see that, with this small change, things will add up and when you least expect it, your life will be transformed. God honours small beginnings. So, for starters, do the bare minimum. What’s the simplest action you can take today? Do more tomorrow so you will get there.
