EVERYONE WANTS A GOD IN THEIR WAY (AND THE TICKET WINDOW)
Have you ever stopped to think about the purpose of the Word of God in our lives? Understand and practice
I always remember a conversation with a young man in a market in London. We were doing church work at the market, talking to people on the street, and offering prayer, and suddenly, this young man started talking to me, and clearly, he did not want prayer or help but to discuss religion. He tried to convince me that his religion was right and mine was wrong.
I did not enter into that dispute and asked him: “Putting religion aside, what do you believe happens after death?” And he said: “In our religion, we believe in Heaven, believe that if we have done good works, we go to Heaven”. I asked: “How many good works?” He said to me: “Our religion teaches that if my good works are more than bad works if the balance weighs to the side of good works, we go to Heaven.” So, I kept on asking: “Where is this scale? How do you know exactly the weight of your good and bad works?”
It is interesting to talk to religious people because they usually don’t think about their beliefs. It is the opposite of intelligent faith, which is what God teaches. It’s a faith that thinks. Religious belief is very superficial. He told me: “If I have 51% of good works and 49% bad, I will go to Heaven.” But this conversation marked me because it illustrates a tendency for people to believe in God in their way. People imagine a “god” in their heads. It is the opposite of what the Bible says about God having made us in His image and likeness. However, some people create a “god” in their image and likeness. For them not to change, they need a “god” to approve what they do.
But the Lord Jesus once, debating with religious ones, said: “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God” (Matthew 22:29). So, people make mistakes in their actions because they do not know the Words of God recorded so that we understand what His thoughts are, the “rules” for the “after death”. In other words, it is not the “Jesus” you imagined from your denomination. We understand here, by the words of the Lord Jesus himself, that there is only one correct way of believing in God (as the Scriptures say).
To live in a country, you must meet that country’s requirements. Who determines the rules is not the person but the nation that will receive them. If you don’t meet the criteria, you’ll leave. That’s how it works. And you understand that. You may not like it, but you know there’s only one way. Why would it be different in Heaven? Do you think God would let people enter Heaven in their way? According to their rules? Then it wouldn’t be Heaven; it would be hell (a terrible mess). Pay attention, and make no mistake. I’m warning you out of genuine compassion for your soul. If you do not believe in God according to the Scriptures, you will stumble and not get where you want. But you are receiving this warning. Watch the video above and think about this message.
