Often someone comments to me about news involving revealed messages, compromising conversations or scandals related to influential people. Many are surprised by what appears.

But, in fact, there’s nothing really new about it. The Bible itself already said that there is nothing new under the sun. Human behaviour repeats itself over time – especially when money begins to take God’s place in someone’s life.

The trap of serving mammon

The Lord Jesus explained that mammon represents money placed in the position of God. The problem is not in the wealth itself. The Bible shows that men of God, such as Abraham and Solomon, were rich.

The problem is when the person starts to trust money above all else.

At this moment, a dangerous illusion arises – the idea that money can solve any problem. Thus, many come to believe that, if something goes wrong, there will always be a way out: influence, good lawyers or enough power to escape the consequences.

That’s why we see, in some cases, rich people acting as if they were never going to be caught or judged.

The limit of human justice

Another important lesson is to understand that justice in this world is flawed. Even in the best systems, everything depends on evidence, witnesses and processes. And when does the evidence disappear? When witnesses are silenced?

For this reason, not everything that happens wrong gets to the news. What appears is only a small part.

The best human justice is still far from God’s perfect justice.

The court that will come

However, there is a truth that cannot be ignored: everyone will appear before the Righteous Judge.

In this court, there will be, therefore, no influence, wealth or social position that makes a difference. On the contrary, each person will be accountable for themselves before God.

Thus, only those who have already been forgiven by faith in the Lord Jesus will go through this trial without condemnation.
