CHOOSE YOUR FEAR: LYING OR TELLING THE TRUTH?
Although it may seem easier, did you know that lying has adverse consequences?
I’ve never met someone who said, “I like it so much when people lie to me.” Nobody likes lies; they can cause irreparable damage (such as death and injustice). Lies are something literally diabolical. And one of the motivations for lies is fear. God says: “And of whom have you been afraid, or feared, that you have lied, and not remember Me, nor taken it to your heart?” (Isaiah 57:11).
Here, we understand two things:
First: one of the sources of lies is fear (it is not the only source because people lie because they have a bad character). We have learned this source since we were a child. The child breaks the vase, and the father or mother asks: “did you break this vase?” And they, at the age of 3, who barely speaks properly, will say: “no”. Because the father or mother shows seriousness and the child is afraid. It was the same in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve hid from God because they were afraid.
The second thing is: was your fear of suffering any retaliation greater than God? Were you not afraid to lie and hurt God with this lie? Of course, people daily don’t think about the seriousness of lying. They even classify it as a “white lie”, for example. But sometimes, without realising it, the person exchanges God (the truth) for the devil (the lie). You should be more afraid of lying than of telling the truth. When you lie, you will ally yourself with the “father of lies”, the devil. And what do you think will happen to you? The truth shields us. Are you afraid of lying or telling the truth? Check out the video above and reflect on it.
