7 SYMPTOMS OF SPIRITUAL COMPLACENCY - (Part 2)

Take note of the clear signs that everything is growing cold inside, even if, on the outside, everything appears to be normal

In this video, you will learn about one more of the 7 symptoms of spiritual complacency, clear signs that something is growing cold inside, even when, on the outside, everything seems normal.

Seeking comfort is natural to human beings. No one seeks pain or discomfort on purpose. However, when this desire for convenience turns into comfort-seeking and begins to direct our choices, especially in faith, the loss is inevitable. Not everything that is comfortable is good for you, just as not everything that bothers you is bad.

In our spiritual life, constantly running away from discomfort leads to complacency, and complacency, sooner or later, charges a high price. Therefore, those who want to stay on their feet need to learn to deal with discomfort. Otherwise, it settles in – and ends badly.

When church attendance decreases

The fourth sign of spiritual comfort appears clearly: Presence in the church becomes irregular. Going to God’s house requires effort. You need to leave home, travel, face traffic, spend time and, often, adjust your routine. All this involves discomfort.

After the pandemic, many got used to attending online services. Whenever something is announced in the church, the question arises: “Is it going to be broadcast?” Although there are people who really do not have access, for many, the problem is not distance, but convenience.

The half-truth that weakens faith

A common argument is to say that God is everywhere, which is true. The mistake is in concluding that, therefore, it is not necessary to go to church. That’s a half-truth, and half-truths are the most dangerous.

It was God Himself who established the church. Jesus attended the temple, honoured the Father’s house and taught in synagogues. The apostle Paul followed the same path. The church exists to strengthen the family of faith.

Coexistence strengthens

The Bible guides us that we should not abandon the congregation. When we are together, we are provoked to love and good works. Faith ceases to be just theoretical and becomes practical. That bothers us, yes, but true faith requires action. Living faith has works.

The enemy knows that a united church is strong. Therefore, it works to isolate, divide and weaken. He wants each one alone, in his own way.

A personal decision

Therefore, do not give in to spiritual laziness. Do not get carried away by a lack of desire, excessive comfort or excuses. As part of the Body of Christ, you need to be present, participate and live the faith actively.

Tomorrow, we will continue talking about the next signs of spiritual complacency.
