There are two things that man cannot master: death and evil. Man dominates the air; he creates balloons, helicopters, and rockets and goes to space and back. He sails in the sea. He dominates many things. But he can’t control death and evil.

Death is easy for you to understand. I heard the story of a billionaire named Bryan Johnson, 45, who decided to invest his fortune to “live forever” and rescue the physical youth of his 18 years of age. This is just one of the many examples we find in humanity. These are ancient desires that human beings have to live with forever. Isn’t this desire interesting? It is because this desire is part of God Himself. There is something inside us that resists the idea of death. And many people try to prolong life, avoiding death. You may even try to have a healthy life, but there will come a time when death will come. The body dies, but the soul does not. Who calls for eternity within us is our soul. It knows that we will not die, and the soul will continue after the body returns to dust.

Evil happens in this world whether we want it or not. Man cannot overcome evil because man is fallen. He fell from the beginning. Bad human inclinations are associated with evil and make the human being stumble. The best people end up stumbling on vanity, adultery, pride, selfishness, on their own inclinations to evil. We are fallen, and therefore, we cannot overcome evil through ourselves.

However, there is excellent news. I can introduce you to someone who overcame both: Jesus overcame death. He was the first to rise from the dead. And this is a historical fact. He rose from the dead; death could not keep Him in the grave, and He returned in a way that no human technology can do. And He extends this power to those who believe in Him: “And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die” (John 11:26).

Therefore, when you receive Him as Lord, Father and Saviour, He comes, and nothing else frightens you concerning death. The Lord Jesus also overcame evil, besides death. Satan, the origin of all evil, was crushed on the cross by the Lord Jesus, who gave us authority, and thus we also triumphed over evil. We are still exposed to certain things because we live in an evil world that has not yet subjected itself to God. And therefore, we can suffer from what happens to this world. However, within us, this power overcomes all evil.

So, embrace this Name that is over every other name. This is the solution to these human problems.
