WHY THE DISCIPLINED ADVANCE AND THE MOTIVATED RETURN TO THE WAY THEY WERE BEFORE
Assume today the commitment to yourself and to those who matter most in your life
I would like to make something very clear to you, at the beginning of the year: it is not motivation that changes your life – it is discipline. Because motivation doesn’t sustain anyone!
Many people start the year with a project or goal, enthusiastic. However, the emotion passes – and usually passes sooner than we imagine.
It is important to know the answers to these 3 questions:
• What do I want to change?
• Where do I want to go?
• What do I want to transform?
But the problem arises when you confuse reason with emotion. Because, when the feeling goes away, the person thinks: “I don’t feel like it anymore… it’s too hard…” – and gives up.
Therefore, I affirm with conviction: it is not motivation that transforms. It’s the discipline.
What I learnt from the discipline
Over the years, I have observed something: the life of the disciplined continuously improves. Sometimes slowly, but always forward. In contrast, the simply motivated sprints… and soon returns to the starting point.
The secret is commitment.
I speak by word – with myself, with God, and with the people who matter. Willingly or unwillingly, with tiredness, holiday, or rain, I remain on the battlefield. Because I’m committed.
The voice I chose to hear
When I meditate on Deuteronomy 28:1,2, I see a fundamental principle:
“If you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God…”
Today, there are many voices: internet, friends, opinions, comparisons, and, especially, the voices inside our own head – fear, doubt, insecurity.
I decided to listen only to God’s voice.
Because giving up always starts with an inner voice saying: “It won’t work…”
Therefore, commitment begins with a choice: to listen and obey God.
Obedience is not perfection – it’s diligence
When the Bible talks about “observing the commandments”, it does not require absolute perfection. What God expects is attention, care, and diligence.
Just like in a job: I learn what needs to be done – and I do it. God would never ask for something impossible. Therefore, the focus is not perfection, but practical obedience.
The consequence is inevitable
The promise is clear: God exalts and bestows blessings on those who listen and obey.
That doesn’t mean absence of fights. On the contrary, when you stand out, criticism, envy, and temptations to give up arise. However, blessings become a natural consequence of a disciplined life.
If I stumble, I get up
If I fail at some point, I resume. I start again. I look forward. I don’t get stuck in what happened – I move on, listening to God’s voice.
And I tell you:
Don’t believe it just because I’m talking. Believe because it’s God who’s talking. It is inevitable: blessings reach those who live the discipline of the Word.
Therefore, with or without motivation, the decision is this: make a commitment to God, to yourself, and to those who matter most in your life.
