Same place, same spirit
What paved the way for the outpouring on the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost?
Everyone was seated and under the same roof, as if they were waiting to be “served.”
Free from anxiety, all we’re waiting.
Patient, thoughtful, generous… this is how that climate of faith could be described.
Even if they had had access to today’s technology (cellphones) no one would have had the audacity to take them to that Place of Faith.
Everyone in the same place. Everyone sharing the same thoughts. Everyone united. Remember David’s vision?
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity! Psalm 133:1
Everyone in the same place signifies communion, unity of thoughts.
No one thought about themselves or their own interests. They were there for one reason: to wait for the promise of the Lord Jesus.
The “soil” was ready to receive the God’s Seed.
Stones, weeds, insects and anything else that would block the growth of the Seed in that soil had been removed.
Honesty, repentance, humility and faith cancelled out any harmful attacks.
Everything cooperated for the outpouring of the Spirit of Jesus.
All of a sudden a sound came from heaven like that of a violent wind.
It filled the entire house where they were seated.
No one expected to speak in tongues.
They hadn’t even imagined doing that. But that’s what happened.
It came as an unexpected sign of the fulfillment of the Promise.
It happened because everyone was in the same place, in the same spirit and in the same faith. And so everyone was filled with the Holy Spirit and everyone spoke in tongues as the Spirit enabled them.Acts 2:4
