PROTECT YOUR MIND ABOVE ALL ELSE
How you keep your heart transforms your walk with God.
First of all, let me draw your attention to something decisive: among everything you have – goods, memories, knowledge, friendships – there is an asset that needs to be protected above all others: your mind, what Proverbs call “heart”.
We live in the information age, and that’s precisely why protecting the mind has become one of the greatest challenges. Out of everything you should protect, the mind must come first, because it is from it that the sources of life spring.
The advice that changes everything
In the book of Proverbs, in chapter 4, from verse 20, God speaks like a Father:
“Give attention to my words… Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart.”
In other words, He calls us to think, reflect and reason. And it shows that His Word should be the first information of the day. Not the news, not the social media, not the mobile phone notification – but the Bible. Start the day by placing the Word of God before your eyes. When the Bible is your focus, you have direction, clarity and strength to face any battle.
I learnt this, I practice and teach, because it works. Whoever does it comes back saying, “It changed my life”.
Why keep your mind
In Proverbs, “heart” often means mind, the centre of human intelligence. That’s why it is written:
“Keep your heart with all diligence.” Proverbs 4:23
We live surrounded by voices – songs, news, advertisements – influencing our thoughts even when we don’t realise it. That’s why so many people lose peace, health, faith and even marriage, simply because they let into their minds what is bad.
The care that is missing
You lock your car, protect your house and pay for insurance. But many do not protect what matters most. Some words stay forever, thoughts that make you sick, ideas that paralyse.
The Bible says that His words are life and health, while the words of evil are death. Keeping the mind is a matter of spiritual survival.
The Fast of Daniel: a necessary detox
Therefore, from December 10, we will start the last 21 days of the year in the Fast of Daniel – a fast of useless information.
It’s not about food, but about stopping the consumption of what doesn’t build spiritually and focusing on what strengthens us: the Word of God.
If you want to know how to do it, visit: jejumdedaniel.com.
The challenge
Therefore, I challenge you to participate in the Fast of Daniel: 21 days of mental and spiritual detox so that this end of the year is not just a turn of the calendar, but a real turn of mind.
I will do this purpose, and you are my guest – no matter your religion. This is self-care.
