HOW CAN I HAVE PEACE WITH GOD AND WITH MYSELF?
The blessing we receive from the Altar on our wedding day is essential to strengthen and maintain this unshakeable vow. Don't underestimate the power of the Altar!
“There is none righteous, no, not one” (Romans 3:10). The Word of God clearly shows that no one on earth is entirely just – only God. The only righteous one who walked among us was the Lord Jesus; therefore, death could not stop Him (Acts 2:24). As death is the wages of sin (Romans 6:23) and Jesus had no sin, death had to give Him back to life.
Think of a person who is arrested but against whom there is no evidence. Justice must release them, correct? In the same way, death had to free Jesus because He had no guilt or sin. That’s why he was resurrected.
Now, how can we enter heaven if no one is righteous, not even one? How can we have peace with God?
Romans 5:1 answers this question: “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
This verse solves our problem in the face of God’s perfect justice. In fact, we are not just before God or men. After all, who has never sinned? Who has never transgressed the law of men or failed to comply even with their own standards of justice?
How many times do we try to do what is right but fail? We start a new year, a new week, a new day by saying, “From now on, I will act differently. I won’t get upset anymore or get angry with that person. I’ll control my temper and my emotions.”
Maybe we can hold on for a while, but soon we slip and go back to doing what we had promised not to do.
If we can’t even reach our own standards of justice – which, by the way, are very low – how can we justify ourselves in the face of divine justice? Usually, we consider ourselves fair in our own eyes, but when we try to improve, we soon realise our failures.
So, how can we pass the divine justice test?
Justification by faith is when God declares a person as righteous, attributing to them the justice of the Lord Jesus. Christ was the only perfect righteous, and God the Father, by His mercy and grace, considers this justice as if it were of those who believe in Him. By faith in Jesus, this person is justified and forgiven of their sins. Your mistakes are erased because of His love and justice.
Imagine that entering heaven is like entering a place where clothes need to be absolutely white. But you arrive at the door of heaven with your clothes as dirty as a mechanic’s overalls covered in grease. How do you to get in like this?
Then, Jesus sees you, calls you aside and says: “Come with me.”
He gives you a bath, removes all the dirt, throws away your dirty clothes and gives you His very pure garment. Then, He says: “Now you can go back to the queue because you’re going to enter.”
When your turn comes, Jesus declares: “He is with me.”
And you enter, not because you deserved it, but because Jesus lent you His clean clothes. This is the justification by faith.
That is, when you believe in the Lord Jesus as your only Lord and Saviour, the Father – the Just Judge – attributes to you the justice of His Son, forgives you for His grace and mercy and gives you access to salvation.
Having peace with God means no longer being afraid of death because death has nothing more to accuse you of. After all, you were justified by faith, and because of this justification, you seek to live in justice. You are not perfect, but you seek to live in sanctification and separation.
So, put your faith in Him to have peace with God. And having peace with God, you will have peace with yourself. This is the Lord Jesus’ salvation plan for our lives.
Therefore, never put your salvation in a religion, a religious leader, a church or anyone. The true man of God is the one who introduces you to the Saviour. He decreases, and Jesus increases in your life.
But the mercenary wants to make you dependent on him, not the Lord Jesus. He even says the name of Jesus, but he doesn’t lead you to really know Him.
Stay away from these!
