GOD’S JUDGMENT WILL BE ACCORDING TO THIS TRUTH
God will not judge us based on our own truth but by the only Truth, which is Himself.
Yesterday, I talked about the 3 inconvenient truths; today, I will talk about one more, which is the following: “The judgment of God is according to truth”(Romans 2:2).
This means that we will not be judged by our version of the story. No, God’s judgment is according to the Truth. And the Lord Jesus said: “I am the way, the truth, and the life…”. (John 14:6)
Naturally, those who have the Truth on their side will be set free by It from this judgment. It is important to have this awareness because we live in a time when the expression “my truth” has become a trend.
Now, it is essential to know that when someone says, “My truth,” this truth is probably a lie or just a point of view, which is rarely the truth. Confusing a point of view with truth is self-deception; it is a lack of thinking because a point of view cannot see all other points of view of a situation.
The truth is immutable; it is real as a whole. On the other hand, the lie is flexible; it can change; it is not something real; it exists only in the head of the liar and those who believe in it.
Let’s think about the truth in 3 points: the truth about people, the truth about ourselves and the truth in God.
Finding the truth in people is very difficult, practically impossible because we don’t have the same gift as God; we don’t have the power to know what’s inside people. We don’t have all the facts and all the information; no one has, and no one knows everything.
When a judge judges a case, he rarely has all the facts; he can only judge based on the presented evidence. But how many cases reach a court without proof? And when some of them are forged, witnesses lie in court even under oath. Anyway, finding the truth in people is very difficult.
But we can seek the truth about ourselves. I have been meditating a lot on this Psalm:
“Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults.” (Psalms 19:12)
There are mistakes in us that are hidden from ourselves; there are truths about us that we don’t see. So, this search for the truth within us is very important.
For example, during my first 12 years of marriage, I was convinced I was right but sincerely wrong. But because I searched, God showed me my hidden mistakes. Sometimes, we show one thing, and the reality is another. There is a lack of sincerity, a lack of truth, a lack of facing the actual condition. So, for you to change, the first thing is to recognise the truth about yourself, no matter how painful it is. Only then you will be able to do something about it.
We will only know how to act when we seek the only Truth, the Lord Jesus. And this is what you do when you seek His Spirit, His words; that is when you have a genuine interest in knowing Him.
Thus, when you encounter the Truth, it will shine a light in your heart and mind. You will have new eyes for everything happening around you, and you will see many lies you did not see before. You will act according to God’s will.
