ENOUGH! TEAR DOWN THIS ALTAR ALREADY

Recognise, remove and prioritise - the decision that defines your spiritual life.

First of all, an idol is not just a religious image. In practice, it is everything that occupies the place of God on the altar of your life.

Most of the time, it is subtle and even pleasant: money, relationship, recognition, comfort or even the “I” itself. That is, something common begins to take priority over God’s will and, without realising it, to govern life.

The sign that cannot be ignored

In addition, the most dangerous idols are the invisible ones, formed in the heart.

Therefore, the apostle John’s warning remains current: “Beware of idols”.

But how to identify? Observe their reactions. When something is touched and generates irritation, defence, or resistance to give up, there is a clear sign.

After all, while you protect your idol, it continues to govern your reactions, your choices… your life.

What to do?

Given this, it is not enough to recognise, it is necessary to act:

Watch: realise what has priority.

Knock down: if you can’t give it up, it has become an idol.

Replace: put God in place.

The example of Gideon shows this: the change only began when he knocked down the altar of Baal. Similarly, Abraham did not deny Isaac when God asked.

Where freedom begins

Giving up hurts. It requires resignation, a cut and firm decision. It’s leaving what you’ve learnt to trust. But that’s exactly where freedom begins.

A continuous decision

Finally, this choice is daily. Idols will always try to come back, in new ways. Therefore, examine your life frequently, adjust priorities and keep God first.

Thus, you cease to be governed by what holds you today and start living free.

Watch and learn how to get rid of, once and for all, what governs you today.
