Over 200 teens and young adults stood in total darkness and heard the words, “This is what your life is like without God.” The message was strong and simple: nothing in this world is worth having unless our lives are in His light. How do we live in that light? Two things. Fight the darkness and surrender completely to Him, and that light will begin to shine not only on us, but all around us.
The first ever all-night YPG vigil was underway, led by Pr. Luke Castro with a special word of faith by Bishop Renato Cardoso. YPG members from all around Texas gathered from 11:30pm till 5am. Their energy never wavered, and the intensity of God’s presence was felt throughout the whole night.
Participants stood in a circle around the edge of the meeting room, holding hands and silent in prayer as the pastors began to rebuke the darkness, the evil that had been hiding in the many lives there. Abuse, rejection, addictions, despair, fear… young lives are just as much a victim to these oppressive spirits as anyone else, and the demonic forces began to manifest and show their presence. It was a moment of awakening for many who had no idea that the root of their problems came from a spiritual source, and could be fought back through faith in Jesus Christ. Pastors, their wives and assistants prayed over each one, and lives were set free through their faith.
Perhaps some came to the vigil with the thought of entertainment or fun, but God had so much more in store that night. Some of the youth stood up and gave testimony to how God’s power had done the impossible in their lives, showing that the pastors’ messages were more than just words, but real and accessible to everyone. Rescuing and transforming the lives of young people was the goal of the YPG vigil, and that was exactly what happened.
Singing, dancing and worship time was the glue that brought it all together and the talents of various YPG members from around Texas led the rest in setting their minds on God and opening their hearts to Him. Only those who were determined not to encounter God left the same way that they came in. By 5am, tired and filled with new inspiration, the YPG of Texas disbanded to go forth and spread their light.
Select YPG branches will be having the Night of the Chosen vigil in the month of August. Speak to the YPG Pastor at your local church to find out more.
